The foundation stone of Bihar Yoga Bharti was placed with the Bihar School of Yoga (BSY), founded by Swami Satyananda Saraswati in 1963 to spread the power of Yoga among common man. Through BSY, Swami Ji spread Yoga for people of all age irrespective of creed, cast, culture and religion. Under his expert guidance Yoga was taught on scientific grounds. Several thousand people were taught yoga therapy, yoga teacher training, sannyasa and advanced sadhana (regular yoga practice) courses. Both short term and long term programs were offered. Now BSY is an institution of International reputation for teaching of Yogic Sciences.
After Swami Satyananda Saraswati achieved the stage of kshetra sannyasa in 1988 Swami Niranjanananda was given the responsibility to carry out the work of Swami Satyananda Saraswati.
Swami Niranjanananda developed Ganga Darshan for five years. In 1994 he established Bihar Yog Bharati (BYB). Now BYB is a registered and accredited institution for advanced studies in yogic sciences. It’s a Gurukul based institute and first of its type in the world to impart a comprehensive yogic education.
